Our dielectric coatings are applied to medical devices that require electrical insulation (electrosurgical devices), such as mono- and bi-polar surgical instruments. Our dielectric coatings have been developed through years of in-house research, and possess physical attributes far greater than those of our competitors’ dielectric coatings. With typical hardnesses of 1,100 Vickers/DPH, porosities in the range of 1/10 of 1% and dielectric strengths up to 1,000 volts/mil or more, few others can achieve the high level of excellence our thermal spray dielectric coatings exhibit.
Our dielectric coatings have very high bond strengths and can be deposited onto almost any material. Our fixturing, tooling, and cell design for coating electrosurgical devices have been specially developed to deliver the highest quality coatings in high production volumes.
Bi-polar Electrical Surgical Device With Dielectric Coating
Complex electronic medical equipment can be very sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). To protect these sensitive medical devices, We provide a number of specialized metallic coatings to provide EMI and RFI shielding. These coatings can be applied to plastics, thermoplastics, including carbon fiber and fiberglass composites. Our EMI / RFI shielding coatings provide consistent protection from interference and have been shown to achieve 85 dBm of attenuation in the gigahertz range.
We have developed a variety of specialized coating materials with antimicrobial properties to directly kill bacteria. Our antimicrobial coatings are made with elemental alloys of silver, copper, and iodine. They can be applied to most materials, including metal, plastic, carbon fiber, composite materials, and stainless steel.
Surgical Tool Surfaces
We produce metallic and ceramic coatings used to improve surgical instruments’ tissue grip. We can precisely regulate the surface roughness to provide the ideal grip and traction that the application requires or that an individual surgeon is looking for. Tissue grip coatings can also be produced with release agents to assist in the release of the tissue when gripping is no longer desired.
